The ISC Internet Governance Work Committee Established and the First Committee Member Meeting Held

On March 10, The Internet Governance Work Committee (hereafter referred as “Working Committee”) of Internet Society of China (ISC) was established and the First Committee Member Meeting was held online. The meeting was hosted by Song Maoen, Deputy Secretary General of ISC.
Wang Lei, Coordinator of Cyber Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He congratulated the establishment of the Working Committee and put forward three suggestions for the future work of the Working Committee. Firstly, to share China’s digital development story. He hopes the experts could exert their influence and actively share China’s best practice of governance experience. Secondly, to advocate inclusiveness and solidarity. It is expected that China IGF will continue to follow "One World, One Internet" and work together to uphold the Internet spirit of peace, openness and cooperation. Thirdly, to promote exchanges and cooperation. It is expected that China IGF will give full play to its advantages to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation through multiple channels and forms, and work with different stakeholders or partners to seek development and well-being and jointly cope with security challenges.
Huang Chengqing was elected as the Director of the first Committee, Zhang Xiao as Standing Deputy Director, Li Chijiang, Xin Yongfei, Sun Yongge, Qian Lei and Qiu Yuefeng as Deputy Director, and Zhong Rui as Secretary-General.
Director Huang Chengqing said that the participation from China’s Internet community into the international Internet governance has constantly grown in recent years. Experts from different background delivered their sounds and contributed wisdom in multiple perspectives. In the future, it is believed that under the strong support of the industry and members, the Working Committee will actively play the role of bridge and continuously promote communications and cooperation between Chinese community and the international communities in Internet governance, by bring our voices and achievements to the world, and jointly promoting the global Internet governance process.
Then, the Working Committee will undertake the relevant work of China IGF, and actively carry out international exchanges and cooperation, promote communication with other IGF NRIs bodies.
The Working Committee has 41 members including CAICT, China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, China Cyberspace Security Association, Fuxi Institution, Huawei, Alibaba, Baidu, Sina, Didi, Kuaishou, JD.com etc.
